Kashmir: Kashmiri leader detained at Delhi airport the day after interviewing BBC
A well-known Kashmir politician, formerly a diplomat from India, has been arrested in Delhi and sent to Kashmir.

Shah Faisal was arrested at Delhi Airport on Wednesday. At that time he was about to board a plane.

Hundreds of leaders are detained in the Kashmir region, and Shah Faisal has been added to the list.

Most of these leaders were arrested before the decision was taken to cancel the special status of Kashmir.

Indian authorities have claimed that they have to conduct such operations to control the situation in the disputed areas.

Pakistan has criticized India for taking away Kashmir's special status. Indian Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the failure of the UN to fulfill the promise of the world will be responsible for the situation in war.

Shah Faisal was arrested on Wednesday while flying a flight from Delhi to Turkey, according to news agency PTI, according to Indian authorities.

It is not yet known exactly which part of the Indian-administered Kashmir region he was taken to.

However, local media are saying that he too has been arrested. But the BBC has not been able to verify this information.

Speaking to the BBC's Hardtalk program on Tuesday, Mr. Faisal feared arrest.

"I am ashamed that I am out at a time when all the leaders of Kashmir are detained," he said.

On that occasion, Mr. Faisal said that the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was taken away by Mr. Modi has 'killed the Constitution on public daylight'.

However, the Indian government says they have taken all the steps following the constitutional rules.

Shah Faisal came to the discussion for the first time after securing first place in the Civil Service Examination in India. As the first Kashmiri, he took first place in that exam.

In January this year, he resigned from his government job to form his own political party, the People's Movement of Jammu and Kashmir.

Apart from the political leaders in Kashmir, activists, teachers and businessmen were arrested before and after the abolition of Article 5.

Comment by the Prime Minister of India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the first address to the nation after being elected for the second time on August 8, the day of India's Independence Day; Where he claimed the removal of Kashmir's special status from the constitution was a special achievement of his government.

Mr. Modi said that the section of the constitution which had been giving special status to the Kashmiris for the last five years was preventing the people of Kashmir from fulfilling their dreams.

Earlier, after taking over the special status of Indian-ruled Kashmir, Mr. Modi said, "Because of those two trends, there has been nothing special except terrorism, familyism and corruption for years."

"In the three decades, 12,000 innocent people have been killed. The people of Jammu and Kashmir were deprived of many of the rights that all other citizens of India enjoyed."
